MAURICE EMTAGE
Maurice Emtage is the proprietor and master saddler of Colne Saddlery. He is also a past-president of the Society of Master Saddlers.
Having never enjoyed his academic studies, Maurice decided to turn his hobby into his profession. Raised on a riding school, he is a natural horseman and in his youth competed up to Grade A in show jumping.
Maurice went on to train at the top saddlers college, Cordwainer's of London, and was recognised as a Qualified Master Saddler, heavily involved in establishing the course for saddle fitting. His knowledge and experience on saddle fitting resulted in his appointment as an Examiner for the course, and he now annually assesses the current trainee saddle fitters.
To honour his involvement and contribution to the industry of British Saddlery, the Society of Master Saddlers elected him as their President for the year 2002-2003.
